La Fonte means "melt" in French but also "typeface" in English. This experimental typography was designed from ice. The typographical molds (made in FabLab) symbolize the software, which standardizes the typeface design : everyone gets the same ice cube. How to disrupt the drawing of the letter in an uncontrolled way ? The ice-inked letter transforms itself by melting, until becoming unreadable. Other uncontrollable parameters come into play : the time, the heat, the paper grain ... The new random typefaces created from these experiments are then digitized and can be used in a word processing software ... is it a back to standards ?
